Half Shell
2026 Season
Monday, June 1 | Shakedown Cruise
After 2 years of not being at the tiller, she scared the hell out me. Momentarily. Half Shell purred and leapt out of the water. Retrieving from the water was dicey because white caps came out of nowhere crashing into the ramp. Still, good time!

Saturday, May 30 | Refit Complete
Deck paint with non-skid, new bilge pump, wire tubing, gas tank kit, spark plugs, lower unit oil change, hull wax and more. She's all ready for Summer, just waiting for bench cushions to arrive! Hopefully throw her in the water this week to see if the engine remembers what to do!

Sunday, May 10 | A Full Refit Is Underway
Half Shell is undergoing a complete makeover to prepare for a busy season on Barnegat Bay. The last three days included a power washing, removal of old fuel, replacement of electrical switches, numbers applied to the hull, rubrail repair and sanding the deck. New bench cushions and paint are on order. The deck refinish plan is to prime from the rubrail in and two coats of deck paint, and then some yachty non-skid on the sole.
At this point Half Shell is a trailer boat with storage at East Bay Marina. Perhaps she'll go into a slip, we'll see how the summer progresses.
If the weather cooperates this week, the deck will be painted... probably a bit too optimistic.
